    Let your light shine brightly!

Neon Kids is the Children's Ministry at First Presbyterian Church. This ministry is dedicated to providing a safe and loving environment for the children of our community. We strive to do this through a variety of programs and events, all of which are committed to bringing these children, from birth through 6th Grade, into a meaningful relationship with Jesus Christ.

For more information on any of our programs, please contact Lauren Hargis in the church office at (239) 992-3233 or lhargis@fpcbonita.org. Also, specific times and details for weekly programs can be found at the Children's Ministry website: www.neonkids.org.

    Sunday Mornings

Sunday morning is an exciting time at Neon Kids. Children's Sunday school takes place during the worship service at 10 AM. During Sunday school, children participate in an array of fun and engaging activities that communicate important Bible truths. Our curriculum touches on a variety of learning styles that help all children grasp the weekly Bible point.

Once a month is Family Worship Sunday, where children attend the first part of worship with their families. A few minutes into the service the children of our church family are invited to gather on the Chancel for the Children’s Message. This is a special time in our service where the worship theme is relayed in an interactive way, designed especially for this age group. Following the Children's Message, children can stay for the remainder of the service or depart for Sunday School. For Family Worship dates, visit: www.neonkids.org.

Children are always welcome to attend worship with their parents. For those children ready to stay for the entire service, we offer Activity Bags in the Narthex, which you can pick up on your way into worship. These bags develop the theme of worship in a child-friendly way. Another option for families with young (and, particularly, nursing) children is our Family Lounge. It is located at the back of the sanctuary, and entered via the narthex. A video feed allows parents to participate in the worship service from a private room where they can also attend to the needs of their children.

    What to Expect

We know visiting anywhere for the first time takes some added effort, and we want to make your time at First Church a wonderful experience. We hope this description of what to expect when you visit us will allow you to relax about the logistics of arriving and focus on your worship with God.

You may want to plan on arriving early to help you and your family get situated. Upon entering the church building through the main entrance, you will be greeted by friendly members of our church. If you would like your children to attend Sunday school or the nursery, ask the greeters to direct you to the Children's Welcome Desk (located in the narthex near the preschool). Look for our bright Neon Kids banner to point you in the right direction. At the Children's Desk, parents will be asked to fill out important information regarding their children. This information will be entered into our electronic check-in system and a name badge will be printed for each child along with a matching pick-up tag for parents. A pager will also be assigned to individuals with children under 3 years of age, which will be used to notify parents if needed. After check-in, parents will be directed to their children's classrooms, which are separated by age: Nursery (6 months-3 years), Preschool (3 & 4 years), PK/K, 1st/2nd grade, 3rd/4th grade, and 5th/6th grade. Each class is led by a committed team of volunteers who seek to build relationships with the students and to model the love of Christ as they share the Gospel through a Bible-based curriculum.

Following the one-hour worship service, parents return to the Children's Desk to pick up their children. We are committed to protecting those children entrusted to us; therefore we do ask that parents present the pick-up tag they were given at check-in when they return.

    Wednesday Nights

In five-week segments throughout the year we meet for Wednesday night small group studies. During this time there is a program for the whole family. While adults have the opportunity to take advantage of a variety of studies, discussion groups, parenting classes and more, children take part in exciting age appropriate programs that feature games, crafts and Bible teaching.

    Family Fun Days

Throughout the year, we have several Family Fun Days. These activities vary, but all are designed to promote family interaction and togetherness within the safe haven of a loving community of faith. We have an annual Easter Celebration, Fourth of July Picnic, Trunk-or-Treat event, and Christmas Pageant, as well as outings to local establishments where we enjoy water parks, bowling, putt-putt, roller skating, pottery painting and more. Information on upcoming Family Events can always be found in the church bulletin or on the Children's Ministry website: www.neonkids.org.

    Vacation Bible School

Each summer Vacation Bible School serves as the culmination of one school year and the exciting preparation for the next. Children in PK - 5th grade gather at the church for a week of activities in arts and crafts, recreation, drama, music and much more! This annual event is put together by the Children’s Ministry Team and run by a staff of volunteers, providing everyone with wonderful memories of great times together, as we all grow in our faith! For the dates of the next Vacation Bible School, visit the Neon Kids website: www.neonkids.org.

For the Youngest Children: Nursery Care

At First Presbyterian Church we provide a safe nursery environment by hiring a professional childcare staff to run our nursery. All members of the childcare staff are highly-recommended, show a special love and care for young children, and pass a thorough background check and drug test. Nursery care is also available for small group meetings and Bible studies. Please contact your study leader for childcare details if your questions about childcare are not answered by our church publications.
